Arc'teryx | The 9th China International Import Expo, brand stand | 5-10 November 2026 | National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai, Hall 6.2, Booth A2-01
From 5 to 10 November 2026, the ninth China International Import Expo took place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. Arc'teryx joined for the first time, unveiling its stand on 6 November in Hall 6.2, booth A2-01, within the consumer goods section for sports and outdoor equipment. The stand’s theme is 'Evolution Forward, Endurance Beyond'. As one of the representative brands of Guest Country of Honour Canada, the company used its debut to argue that evolution is not a marketing line but the operating logic of the business.
The space is built on a simulated mountain landform, with the mountain itself used as the architectural language. Visitors do not read panels against a wall; they walk a closed loop that follows the brand's three decades. Behind the entrance icon wall, the route passes through brand heritage, flagship technology, circular regeneration and interactive experience, ending at the workshop and the film room. The zones and the visiting sequence are drawn into the same floor plan, the route never doubles back, and one lap around the stand reads the logic of the brand in physical order rather than in text.
The heritage zone is laid out chronologically: the first climbing harness in 1989, the application of hot-formed lamination to the BORA backpack in 1994, the first generation of the Alpha SV hardshell in 1998 and its continuous iterations since. The Coast Mountains above Vancouver remain the design centre and the testing ground. The centrepiece is the Sperro SV multi-sport hardshell, the first product to come out of System 0, the brand's circular platform, and its first item certified under TESTEX Circularity: an ePE membrane developed with GORE-TEX, face and backer fabrics in Aquafil's ECONYL regenerated nylon, and a construction that allows the nylon-6 content to be recycled at end of life. A laser-etched QR code on the garment leads to a digital product passport, another first for the brand. The ReBIRD service system, launched in 2021, is staged inside the stand as well: nine service centres across China cover care, repair and rental, technicians demonstrate the full repair of a damaged hardshell, and three workshops a day let visitors heat-press and braid reclaimed GORE-TEX fabric into a take-home piece.
Equipment for hiking, climbing, trail running, alpine skiing and ice climbing fills the rest of the stand, turning professional performance from a single product claim into a system. The opening brought Wen Xu, the Chinese scientific explorer and founder of the Polar Future initiative, who led the China-Nepal joint expedition that summited Everest on 21 May 2026 and drilled the first full-depth ice core from the summit. His presence tied the mountain narrative back to real fieldwork, which is the point the stand is making.
For a first appearance, the communication design is unusually complete. The mountain volume gives the stand a silhouette that reads from the far end of the hall; the repair bench gives visitors something to stop and watch; the workshops give them something to book and to carry away. Each of the four zones along the loop produces a different kind of image, which means six days of coverage rather than a single opening-day moment. The circular message is carried by objects rather than slogans: a jacket that can be repaired, a passport that lives on the garment, a workshop that turns offcuts into a souvenir. That is a harder argument to make in a hall full of displays, and the spatial sequence is what makes it legible. The result is a stand that argues by demonstration rather than by claim.
