Therefore, we put forward an ultimate requirement: Is it possible to solve the content problem, the form problem, and the operation problem at the same time through a certain type of design?

Our thinking started from looking for the inner connection between charity and design:

Charity is a social reality.
Although life is becoming more and more beautiful, however, due to the structural contradictions caused by economy, geography and times, some real social problems are still waiting to be solved. So we need more people to come up with more solutions.

Design is a solution.
The essence of design is a tool to solve problems. After the designer has insight into the ‘real problem (why)’, they can give a corresponding ‘solution (what)’ to it through ‘design (how)’.

Charity is meaning, and exhibition is education.
The significance of a public welfare exhibition is to bring these problems and the corresponding solutions to the public, which would awaken more people's awareness of the charity. As U Design Week, which is mainly for designers, it is an excellent platform for non-profit organizations to recruit more designers to participate in ‘more solutions’.

We also eagerly hope that designers from various industries participating in U Design Week can pay attention to this point.

Only when we bring these problems and solutions to the public in the form of exhibitions to arouse attention and thinking, allowing the public to participate and intervene and making charity circulate, is sustainable charity. However, when we were in the process of planning a charity exhibition, a huge problem was found: from transportation to construction to dismantling, there is a lot of resource consumption in the process of holding an exhibition, which cannot be reused. Therefore, the essence of ‘holding an exhibition’ is a completely natural enemy of environmental protection and a paradox of the concept of charity.
So we thought: Since our exhibition is called ‘Museum of Charity Design’, why not find this exhibition material from the museum itself?
We focused our attention on the logistics boxes that transport artworks for museums and art galleries. After transporting artwork for one time, they would be transported to the junkyard.
However, these logistics boxes actually have the potential to be recycled and reused.

The process of exhibition installation is the expression of charity.

We named this temporary exhibition ‘Museum of Charity Design’. This is not a title party. ‘Charity’ corresponds to our core content; ‘Design’ is our way of solving problems and an echo of U Design Week; and the use of ‘museum’ as the suffix of the exhibition title not only emphasizes the particularity of the source of artwork logistics boxes, but also emphasizes the breadth and educability of charity problems and solutions proposed by design.

Design makes a better nature:
Starting from three CAA thesis projects with the theme of environmental protection, we can see the in-depth observation and thinking of future designers on the surrounding environment, thus triggering the discussion of the relationship between human beings and the surrounding environment; while the two eco-design brands Alist and Nano Arch shows the designer's exploration of environmentally friendly materials, which highly integrates design aesthetics with the concept of sustainable development.

Design makes rural development sustainable:
This section consists of 3 rural-related projects. In ‘Qingshan Villiage’ project, through the management of water resources, it has attracted a large number of young designers to take root and create artworks, gradually making Qingshan Village into an art village. In ‘Design for County’ project, the packaging design strengthens the connection between agricultural products and young consumers, and increases sales; while ‘Qingjian black pigs’ create brand differentiation through the concept of ‘pigs that love to run’, which increasing sales and dissemination. We also set up the interaction of hand-painted packaging design in the exhibition, so that the designers can also join in agricultural products package design.

Design makes children's future more imaginative:
By designing a series of online aesthetic education courses, the ‘Art Classroom’ Project helps children carry out systematic aesthetic training. The ‘Charity Gallery’ and ‘A Letter’ project are planned to allow designers to use their drawing and creative abilities to provide children with material help and spiritual companionship respectively. We also set up a real-time interaction of a virtual gallery in this section which makes painting, delivery and donation instant. The moment the audience take part  in  the interaction, they have unknowingly participated in charity.

Does design related to charity? Starting from a reusable logistics box for museum artworks, VAVE redesigned ‘public exhibition’: Not only an exhibition, but also a recyclable exhibition system. In a real charity context, it conveys the power of warmth to the public.
